Review: My Girlfriend's Boyfriend

I’m going to start this one out simple enough, I watch a lot of romantic comedies. A lot. This largely centers around my copious amounts of insomnia during certain times of the month coupled with certain girly type “feelings”…so yeah, I become a chick for about a week and a half a month and indulge in countless hours of girly flicks. The one that stood out most recently? My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend..perhaps it’s due to my never-ending girl crush of Alyssa Milano, but I did actually like this movie…surprised even myself on that one. Usually I walk away from romcoms with the feeling that I hate myself for subjecting myself to the childish, pedantic fantasy life that is that genre. This time was different.
At it’s core, this movie is about a boy who meets a girl who also happens to meet another boy at the same time…and she starts dating both of them…and doesn’t bother to tell either of them.
I’m a child of television. I’ve watched entirely too much of it, hell I even have a theory about the cyclicalness of it all based on how often “I Love Lucy” plays in syndication during the day in LA….this movie played out like a Lifetime flick, except where I would’ve expected a zig, they zagged in a very refreshing way….
If you’re a chick, I’d watch this. It’s touching and sweet….
If you’re a guy, pick this flick for “Terrific Lady Day”…trust me on this one.
